Sarcomas are cancers that are transformed cells of bone, cartilage, fat, muscle nervous system and vascular tissue.

They are different than carcinomas which develop from the cells lining the surface of blood vessels and organs throughout the body.

Sarcomas are much rarer in comparison to carcinomas with roughly only 20,000 cases worldwide diagnosed a year. This rarity; however, often results in sarcomas being found after they have advanced.
